1. ACTIVATION CODE
What is an Activation Code?
Activation Codes are sent to you when you register on the site, the codes are used to verify your email address.
Where will the Code be sent?
The code will be sent to the email address you give us when you register on the site.
Where do I enter the code?
When you next log in after registering you will be prompted to enter the code after you have entered your chosen password and username. You will only be asked to enter the Activation Code once.
I haven’t received the Activation Code, what should I do?
Check that you have given us the correct email address. Also check that the activation code email has not been stopped by your spam filter. It is possible to alter the settings on your email filters to allow emails from our company.
I have changed my email address do I need another Activation Code?
When you change your email address a new activation code will be sent to you.
2. PASSWORDS
I have lost my password or it doesn’t work, what should I do?
On the homepage click on the Forgotten Password tab you will then be asked to enter your email address. The correct password will then be sent to your external email account so that you can enter the site.
3. MY PROFILE
How long does it take for My Profile to be approved?
The admin team makes every effort to process new members as quickly as possible, normally new members are processed within one to two days.
How do I edit My Profile?
On the homepage there is an area with the heading My Profile within this section there are update buttons and the My Profile heading itself which can be clicked on to edit and update your profile.
How will I know if My Profile is rejected?
You will receive a message from our admin team telling you why your profile has been rejected and what you can do to correct it.
4. UPLOADING PICTURES
How do I upload pictures?
Pictures can be added either through the full registration or by clicking the My Profile heading or update sections in My Profile on the homepage.
I have uploaded a picture and it is not on the site?
This is because our admin team need to approve your pictures before they are displayed on the web site.
How long does it take for pictures to be approved?
The admin team makes every effort to process new pictures as quickly as possible, normally new members are processed within one to two days.
I am trying to upload a picture and it won't accept it
The pictures need to be in JPEG format and need to be a minimum of 280 X 280 in size. Make sure your pictures are in the correct format.
Why was my picture rejected?
Your pictures can be rejected for a number of reasons including offensive or sexual content or poor quality. The admin team will let you know why your picture has been rejected.
What if I don’t have a digital camera?
There are a number of ways you can get an image converted to JPEG format including scanning your pictures or taking a picture to a developer and asking them to format it on to a disk for you.
Can I send members pictures through the site?
You can send photos to each other through our chat platform, however make sure that you have appropriate Virus software installed on your computer in order to prevent your computer from infection as the pictures will be sent independent from our servers.
5. MY MATCHES
What is My Matches?
My Matches is the area where your can see the members that best match your search criteria. You can then view, mail and chat to them from this page.
How does the match system work?
Your search criteria in My Cupid works through the members in your area and then lists them in order of the closet matches. Therefore someone who matches exactly with your search will come top of the list and someone who only partially matches your criteria will come lower on the list.
Two-way Matches explained
This list shows members whose search criteria match yours and vice versa. This means that you both ticked the right boxes for each other, a perfect match!
Seekers Matches explained
This list shows members in your area who are looking for someone who matches your profile.
New Users Matches explained
This list shows new members who have joined within the past 30 days who match your search criteria.
Online Matches explained
This list shows members matching your search criteria who are currently active on the site.
New Online Matches explained
This list shows new members (as above) who are currently active on the site.
6. MAIL
How do I send mail?
There is an envelope icon by every member’s profile just click this envelope to send a message.
How many messages can I send in one day?
We limit our members to sending 50 messages a day this is to prevent members using our systems for spam.
How long are my messages stored for?
Your messages will be stored for 30 days and then will be deleted automatically.
Can I keep a personal copy of mail sent to me?
You can cut and paste your internal messages but we do not provide a function to forward them to external email.
7. CHAT
How do I turn my chat function on and off?
On the Home page there is a Chat section within this is a tab to turn the chat function on and off.
How do I invite people to chat?
If a member’s chat bubble on there profile is blue then they are available to chat. The member can then be invited to chat by clicking on the chat bubble. A member can also be invited to chat through the chat contacts list.
How do I know if someone wants to chat with me?
A pop up will appear on your screen with the details of the member who would like to chat with you.
How do I accept/decline to chat with someone?
On the pop up there are two buttons at the bottom saying accept and decline.
How do I add/delete someone from my chat contacts?
After you have chatted with someone you will be asked if you want to be added to there contacts list. If you accept then you will be able to see the member in your pop up chat box. These members can be deleted from this box by highlighting them and clicking the delete button within the box.
8. BLOCKS
What are Blocks?
If a member of the site is annoying you in any way then you can use this function to stop all contact.
What happens if I block someone?
When you block a member that member will no longer be able to see your profile in any of his match lists or searches. The blocked member will also disappear from all your match lists and searches and will only be visible in your block list. Your block list is located within the Contacts page.
Will they know I have blocked them?
No the member will have no idea he has been blocked and it will appear as if you were no longer a member of the site.
Can I remove a block?
Yes you can remove a blocked member by going in to the block list from the contacts page and clicking the unblock tab by the members username.
9. SECURITY
Is online Dating safe?
Online dating is safe as long as you are careful take your time making sure you have got to know a member before meeting them in person. It is also important to follow our safety guidelines.
Someone has got my login details, what do I do?
Log in to the site as soon as possible and in My Profile change your password to stop that person from accessing your account.
I use a multiple user computer, how do I stay secure?
Always make sure that if you are using a multi user computer that you click the Log Off tab at the top right of the screen when you have finished using the site.
10. SCAMS
What are online scammers?
An online scammer is someone who will set up a false profile on an internet dating service, and will appear to be looking for love but are actually out to con people out of their money.
How can I tell if someone is a scammer?
- Their picture looks deceptively attractive
- The member only gives a post office address and a telephone number
- They talk about themselves and do not answer your questions
- They declare their love for you without really knowing you
- They will always eventually ask for money
What scam stories do they use?
Common stories used are
- They are stranded abroad
- They have been robbed
- They are ill or have a relative that is ill
- They need "bank fees" to release monies
What do I do if I think I am being scammed?
Report the member of the site to us using the Contact Us tab or hit the "Report Abuse" tab on the chat application if you think you have been chatting to a scammer.
You can also block the member in question this will stop him from contacting you in the future.
